PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Heart of the Earth Spa at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai came to us looking to refresh its existing brand and bring greater clarity to the philosophy at its core: Interbeing—the belief that nothing exists independently and that wellbeing comes through recognizing our connection to ourselves, one another, and the natural world. Our role was to create a more cohesive expression of that philosophy across the spa’s guest touchpoints, connecting strategy, storytelling, and visual identity into one refined system that was easier to understand and experience. This also meant rethinking the spa brochure itself—how treatments were organized, communicated, and brought to life through the refreshed brand.

THE CHALLENGE

Inter being is rich in meaning, but its complexity can make it difficult to communicate simply. The challenge was to preserve the depth of the philosophy without allowing it to feel abstract or overly intellectual. At the same time, the spa’s existing pillars of Creativity, Stability, and Non-Judgement needed a clearer relationship to one another and to the larger story of The Heart of the Earth. The opportunity was not to simplify the philosophy itself, but to create a more intuitive way into it, one that guests could understand emotionally.

OUR APPROACH

We found our entry point in a ritual already central to the spa and resort: Goodnight Kiss to the Earth, where guests write a love letter to the earth and set it afloat on the lotus pond. Building from this gesture of gratitude and connection, we developed Love Letters to the Earth as a broader expression of the spa’s philosophy and concept. Rooted in Interbeing—the understanding that everything exists through its relationship with something else—the love letter gave this complex philosophy a more human and tangible form.

This brand is a love letter
to the earth, written not in
words alone, but in quiet
acts of rituals and reverence

THREE PATHWAYS, ONE PHILOSOPHY

The spa’s three existing pillars: Creativity, Stability, and Non-Judgement, became a more purposeful framework for navigating the experience.
We developed each as a distinct pathway, with its own emotional role, sensory character, and treatment logic. Creativity supported energy and expression; Stability offered grounding and balance; Non-Judgement invited calm, openness, and inner peace.

The spa brochure became one of the clearest expressions of this strategy. Rather than presenting treatments as a conventional list of services, offerings were organized through the three pillars, giving guests a more intuitive way to understand what they might need and where to begin.

Colour and botanical imagery, inspired by Vietnamese shadow play, gave each pathway a distinct expression while keeping the system visually connected. Together, the pillars shaped both the identity and the way information was structured, bringing greater clarity and cohesion to the spa journey.

outcome

The refreshed system gave the spa a clearer way to communicate from one touchpoint to the next. The philosophy, pillars, treatments, products, and visual identity no longer needed to operate as separate layers. The three-pillar framework created a consistent logic across the spa brochure, treatment communications, essential oils, and supporting collateral, helping guests move through the experience with greater clarity. What had once required explanation could now be understood through structure, colour, language, imagery, and interaction—allowing the philosophy of Interbeing to remain present without becoming overwhelming.
